What Do You Worship A Idol; Or the LORD?
As much as I like a good action movie and many of the movies are fictional movies, I don’t worship or idolize the movie or actors.
As much as I liked serving in the U.S. military and in government service, I don’t worship or idolize the military, but I can honor and reverence the men and women who have fought for and on my behalf.
As much as we love or hate something, do we give that object, idol, or thing more reverence and honor than it deserves; as much as I try to honor and reverence authority and people in power. If that person is wicked, evil, and immoral, we do not have to honor or reverence them. Explain?
Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after false gods! Psalms 40: 4
Explanation: A person who departs from the current standing orders; or constitution for his or her private, public, and non-governmental gain. To depart or stray away from the path.
So, if Barack H. Obama gets up and says; “I believe that two men and two women can marry.” I would say silly rabbit tricks are for kids!.... If I'm rooted and grounded in the truth, mature in thought, I know for the first time that this is a lie, fallacy; or not the truth, I continue to trust in the LORD, and the principles of what our fathers and mothers have taught us.
If Donald J. Trump, says the opposite thing; but acts with guile or deceit, but his actions are the same. Ex: If Germany declared war on you, your family and wanted to utterly destroy our nation, your way of life, and along came a politician and/or government official who said that Germany loves America now. What would you say; Silly rabbit tricks are for kids.”If you love me, you would never have tried to destroy me, harm me; or even poison me. We die for what we love!...we continue to trust in the LORD.
We probably have heard of “carnality or carnal” in a religious sense. To be “” CARNAL” such as unconverted men are so-called (1 Cor. 3:3). They are represented as a “carnal mind, which is enmity against God” (Rom. 8:6, 7).
Ex: The weapons of any good warfare are “not carnal”, that is, they are not of man’s device, nor are wielded by human power (2 Cor. 10:4).
Moreover, thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbor’s wife, to defile thyself with her. Lev 18:20
And whosoever lieth carnally with a woman, that is a bondmaid, betrothed to a husband, and not at all redeemed, nor freedom given her; she shall be scourged; they shall not be put to death, because she was not free
And a man lie with her carnally, and it be hidden from the eyes of her husband and be kept close, and she defiled, and there be no witness against her, neither she be taken with the manner;
For example, we know that we should not try to damage a marriage, we should not sleep with a man or woman’s spouse; wife, or husband. We should not honor an object, or a thing more than God; or worshipped that thing that takes away our free-will to honor or reverence God. If we are mature in thought and character, we can control our thoughts, actions, and the character we portray in the public’s eye and at home to ourselves. Remember, the eyes of the LORD are everywhere, so he knows us, in public and private environments.
WHAT WE WORSHIP CAN BE THE ROOT OF EVIL, & OUR CARNALITY-DESIRES AND WANTS FOR A OBJECT; OR THING!
Let's examine the root cause of our problems, what we worship and idolize as good when it is evil. Worship, according to Webster’s Dictionary defines "worship" as;
The reverent love and devotion accorded a deity, an idol, or a sacred object. The ceremonies, prayers, or other religious forms by which this love is expressed.
As we should know, if we were taught, but is worth repeating, when we read the Bible we must define our words from a Hebraic perspective and not from an English one. Unfortunately, when we see the word "worship" in the Bible we automatically assume the above definition causing miss-interpretation of the Biblical text.
If I asked the average believer, "Is it okay to worship a man?" The answer would be, "Absolutely not, we are only to worship God." Below are a few verses that use the word "worship" and support this view.
Genesis 24:26 And the man bowed down his head and worshipped the LORD.
1 Samuel 15:31 So Samuel turned again after Saul, and Saul worshipped the LORD.
Psalm 29:2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
The first question we must ask is, "What is the Hebrew word behind the English word ‘worship’ and what does it mean?" In each of the verses above the Hebrew word behind the English word "worship" is שחה (Sh.Hh.H, Strong's #7812). This Hebrew word appears 172 times in the Biblical text but is only translated as "worship" 99 times in the KJV. Below are some other translations of this same Hebrew word.
Gen 27:29 Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee
In this passage, other nations will bow down to the descendants of Jacob.
Exo 18:7 And Moses went out to meet his father in law, and did obeisance, and kissed him, and they asked each other of [their] welfare, and they came into the tent. In this passage, Moses bowed down to his father-in-law.
Ex: Moses displayed honor, respect, and reverence for his father-in-law.
1 Kings 1:53 So king Solomon sent, and they brought [Adonijah] down from the altar. And he came and bowed himself to king Solomon: and Solomon said unto him, Go to thine house.
In this passage, Adonijah was found righteous when he bowed down to Solomon.
Whenever the Hebrew word שחה (Sh.Hh.H, Strong's #7812) is used as an action toward God, the translators translate this word as "worship". However, when this same Hebrew word is used as an action toward another man, the translators translate this word as "obeisance," "bowed" or "bow down". As you can see, the translators are preventing the reader from viewing the text in its proper Hebraic context.
The concept of "worship," as defined by Webster’s dictionary is not Hebraic in any way and is not found in the Bible. While there is nothing wrong with "worship," in the sense that we normally understand this word, we should recognize that it is not a Biblical concept. If the Hebraic meaning of "worship" is to bow down before another, whether God or man, as we have seen from the texts, then the answer to our question above is, "Yes, it is acceptable to worship other men." While this sentence may sound blasphemous due to our doctrinal view of "worship," we can do one of two things. We can remove the word worship from our vocabulary and replace it with "bow down" or we can use the word worship, but recognize that it does not mean what we have always assumed it to mean.
Ex: Culture and culture have an impact on what we believe and what we know when I lived in the Middle East and in Japan for many years in the US military, I realize and learn that to “bow down,” to another man is a sign and display of honor; and to show respect; however, in American culture.
We shake hands, the standing culture is critical to a good foundation. When I lived in Japan, I did “bow down,” and say; “Konnichiwa (こんにちは) to greet most people in most settings. In other words, “How are you today.”It's a greeting of warmth and acceptance. But I’m not in Japan anymore and I’m not in a foreign land. So, bow down and show the `` God We Trust,” his honor and reverence.
THE US. CONSTITUTION & KINGDOM OF GOD’S CONSTITUTION
Let's lay the foundation, again in a governmental body of laws, rules, and regulations, we must lay the foundation before we present our evidence to the public and/or the Judge, which is the LORD of hosts in this document. If you don't know, now you do. The Bible is not a religious document, the Bible is not a legal document; and the Bible is not a document for intellectuals, in the simplest form of interpretation. The Bible is a constitution; or shall we say The Kingdom of God’s constitution.
In fact, our current and standing governing document which is called the U.S. Constitution is a good (functional) representation of the Bible’s constitution. Remember, the Founding Fathers hired biblical scholars, researchers, and historians around the world to construct the document, so we can all agree the great effort was put into the document to govern our elected, selected, and rejected leaders.
The U.S. Constitution (Functional) Constitution vs. Kingdom of God’s (Unshakeable) Constitution
Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe; for our, God is a consuming fire. Hebrews 12:28-29
